I am new to this list. I found out a week ago that a kitten (Smokey) I had taken in back in November is positive. I had him tested back in November and it was negative, but he kept on getting fevers and the vet did blood work. He was anemic and his red and white blood cell count was low. The

The bloodwork showed he was anemic, red and white blood cell count low. The white blood cell count was at the border of low normal. He had been on Baytril for awhile and the vet said she would of thought it would not have been at that level after being on antibiotics. His platelets were low too.

Yes the doctor is going to use ISO gas. The vet said since it was abdominal surgery she would need to stay overnight. My husband and I can't have kids so our pets are our kids. We have 12 kids in all. We have 9 cats (Stinky, Ellie, Katie, Madison, Winston, Smokey, Nicholas, Simon and Tabby.

I called the vet and Stinky made it through the surgery and she is awake. They took biopsies of small intestine, large intestine and lympnode to send off. So it will probably be a week before I know anything. They are giving her fluids through an IV. Hopefully she will do O.K. tonight. Cindy

Please don't give up hope on Allie. Smokey's fevers got as high as 107. Ask your vet about the equistim. So far it really has helped Smokey to not get anymore fevers. I was having to take him to the vet every 2 to 3 days for a fever. Now I just give him the equistim injections at home.
