That's a huge relief. Not sure where I'd read the steroids thing, but my

Kaya should be treated like a kitten who got sick. Kittens do this regularly
and because their immune systems are not as fully developed as a cat's is, they
tend to go downhill fast if not given extra food, meds, etc.. Do NOT put this
cat on steroids. It will compromise her immune system
Didn't find out my Tucson was FELV+ until several years after after I
brought her in (as a kitten) with my other cats. She had tested neg on
ELissa. So when I discovered she was pos, there was no choice for me about
keeping them integrated. I had the others vaccinated. I subsequently

I'll definitely re-test Kaya, but I was also wondering, is there any chance
the other kittens could've had a false neg? Like perhaps I tested
neighbors
too!

All the kittens need to be retested after 3 months on the SNAP test. The virus
can take 12 weeks to show up on the test after exposure.

Hi Gloria,
Just an FYI, Nutrived is better than Pet Tinic, it has the folic acid
needed in blood building and Pet Tinic doesn't. Vit B, Iron and Folic
acid are needed to biuld blood.

There is an anemia group as well? How do I get to that one too?

I concur with treating for hemabart even if the test was negative. That is
how Junior was treated and he lived another year and a half. He tested
negative as well but the vet treated as if he was positive for
hemabartenella.
I will be praying for kitty.
Gary I am so sorry to hear things are not
Has the vet put her on Doxoxycline, hemobartonella is a very common
cause of anemia and positives get it frequently. Doxy will help get rid
of it and if she doesn't have it won't hurt her but if she does, she
will die if it isn't treated and the doxy may just save her life. Has

put to sleep. have your vet check for tumors, since he is
I use PetTinic as a supplement. That's what I used with my last
anemic cat, who was also on doxycycline. I think you have to be
careful with iron supplements, use as directed by the vet. Best of
luck with your 8 mo old baby!

Cats almost never get low on iron, it does happen but not very common.
Bailey was low when he was anemic but my vet said this was not very
common. Has your vet tested the baby to make sure she is low on iron,
too much iron isn't good either. You may try nutrivid it is a vitamin
b, folic
Thanks, Belinda, glad to know that.
