I got the results back on Smokey today. He has fibrosarcoma. Has anyone had much experience with this type of cancer? Also, I spoke to the vet about the black salve and he said I could try it if I wanted to. I think Natalie was the one that posted about it. I need to find out what I need to do to join the group she spoke about and get some of the black salve. Hope it works from here…. When you become a member, please describe and send your cat’s diagnosis, and everyone will jump right in and help you with suggestions, help, and lots of moral support, etc. I will also send you Pat’s address (keep it handy for the future) and how to order the salve and herbs for the tonic. If the growth is outside, easily accessible, it will work…or the vet may have to make a tiny incision or needle hole so that the salve can seep into the tumor. I just can't get over how big this one was how I could have missed it until now. The vet told me that this one will come back and he was afraid it would be pretty soon. I first found this site when my Smokey tested positive for feline leukemia. He had a hard time at the beginning with fevers but we finally got that under control. He has gone over 6 years with no problems or sickness. The other day I felt a very large knot on his left front leg. I took him to the vet to get it checked out. He thought it was probably cancer. He removed it today but he couldn't get all of it. He described it as having tenticles going in all different directions. He is sending it off to be sure it is cancer and what type. I have never dealt with this before and Smokey's outlook seems pretty grave. Depending on how far it has spread and whether it has metatisized, amputating the leg might be an option. Cats and dogs do great on three legs. We had a cat in our rescue recently who had to have her leg removed all the way up like to the hip. They didn't leave a nub or anything. Looked like she had never bee born with a leg. Kind of weird looking but you couldn't tell the difference at all in how she acted and played. Actually she had had some pain in her leg before they removed it so once it was gone then she felt even better and became more playful. He removed it today but he couldn't get all of it. He described it as having tenticles going in all different directions. He is sending it off to be sure it is cancer and what type. She said no, sometimes these sores are caused from the decease and that he was in great pain. Every time I think about the times that I cleaned his little mouth it breaks my heart because I now know how much I was hurting him. I was as gentle as I could be but I thought I needed to keep the sores doctored and I really didn't realize how much pain he was in. Stupid me, I thought I was helping him and that he was getting better. After some time goes by, I plan on going to a rescue facility and adopting a cat.
