[FFmpeg-user] audio normalization - nth attempt
Audio normalization - nth attempt... state: conversation volume good, music waay to loud, explosions etc ditto. This mpv(1) setting audio-normalize-downmix doesn't seem to do anything or am I blind? deaf? also ad-lavc-ac3drc=6 has no effect what I can hear. even if it is my hearing and they do have effects, the problem still remains 100% This af=dynaudnorm works tho to some degree. I found this example on the web af=dynaudnorm=p=0.71:m=100:s=12:g=15 How would one operate these option values for this situation? One problem with just af=dynaudnorm is that when you backtrack to play a sequence again the volume drops so much you don't hear anything, almost, until it picks up much later. This whole problem is, I don't know. When I was watching TV as a kid this was never a problem. What has changed and what do we do about it? [FFmpeg-user] Issue affecting ffmpeg and youtube-dl
Hello. I use youtube-dl (https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl), an open source application that utilizes ffmpeg to merge the audio and video streams that it downloads. There apparently is an issue where ffmpeg will error out on trying to join VP9 HFR video in 720p and 1080p to Opus audio. The problem is that this doesn't happen all the time, just some of the time. In the github for youtube-dl, the issue (https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues/28042) lays out the problem. On the chart of youtube itag formats here ( https://gist.github.com/AgentOak/34d47c65b1d28829bb17c24c04a0096f), it is format codes 302 and 303 that are failing to merge with itag code 251 (Opus audio). The other users in the github thread state that this is an issue with ffmpeg, and affects all versions, including Linux. This is an example of the error I experience on my Windows 10 x64 computer: Y:\youtube-dl>youtube-dl --cookies cookies.txt --download-archive "deltrons_hqv5vp9.log" -i --add-metadata --embed-thumbnail -o "deltron - Videos/%(title)s - %(id)s.%(ext)s" -f --merge-output-format --format (337/315/313/336/308/271/335/303/248/334/302/247/333/244/332/243/331/242/330/278/305/266/304/264/137/136/135/134/133/160)+(251/bestaudio) -x -k --write-description --write-info-json --cache-dir "Z:\cache" --sleep-interval 4 --max-sleep-interval 9 --verbose --fragment-retries 100 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MakTbhIZ5zo [debug] System config: [] [debug] User config: [] [debug] Custom config: [] [debug] Command-line args: ['--cookies', 'cookies.txt', '--download-archive', 'deltrons_hqv5vp9.log', '-i', '--add-metadata', '--embed-thumbnail', '-o', 'deltron - Videos/%(title)s - %(id)s.%(ext)s', '-f', '--merge-output-format', '--format', '(337/315/313/336/308/271/335/303/248/334/302/247/333/244/332/243/331/242/330/278/305/266/304/264/137/136/135/134/133/160)+(251/bestaudio)', '-x', '-k', '--write-description', '--write-info-json', '--cache-dir', 'Z:\\cache', '--sleep-interval', '4', '--max-sleep-interval', '9', '--verbose', '--fragment-retries', '100', 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MakTbhIZ5zo'] [debug] Encodings: locale cp1252, fs mbcs, out cp437, pref cp1252 [debug] youtube-dl version 2021.04.07 [debug] Python version 3.4.4 (CPython) - Windows-10-10.0.19041 [debug] exe versions: ffmpeg 2021-02-16-git-8331eb058d-full_build-www.gyan.dev, ffprobe 2021-02-16-git-8331eb058d-full_build-www.gyan.dev [debug] Proxy map: {} [youtube] MakTbhIZ5zo: Downloading webpage [youtube] MakTbhIZ5zo: Downloading MPD manifest [info] Writing video description to: deltron - Videos\LIGHTSKINJOHN - only - MakTbhIZ5zo.description [info] Writing video description metadata as JSON to: deltron - Videos\LIGHTSKINJOHN - only - MakTbhIZ5zo.info.json [youtube] MakTbhIZ5zo: Downloading thumbnail ... This can be a good place to get your questions on FFmpeg use answered. However, there are some best practices here. Follow them, and you are more likely to get useful responses. 1. Send your message only once. Don't send the same message repeatedly. You just sent what looks like the same identical message twice in quick succession. Once is enough, twice starts to be annoying. 2. Start a new thread for a new topic. Don't hijack an existing thread by replying to it to start a new topic. You just did this twice in quick succession. Note that I started a new thread. Don't hijack this thread either; send your (improved) question to the list as a fresh topic. 3. Use the current version of ffmpeg to reproduce your problem. Your output says, "ffmpeg version n3.0.1", but the current numbered version is 4.4. Your output says, "2000-2016", but the current version is dated 2021. If at all possible, take a build of the current day's sources and reproduce with that. You may find that your problem is solved by changes in the last 5 years of development. 4. Reproduce your problem by running FFmpeg from the command on macOS, Linux, or Windows. Your output is not from a command line on one of those systems; the syntax 'String cmd21[]={"-y","-i" ,inputFile1, "-i", inputFile2, "-filter_complex",' etc makes it look like you are calling from within a programming environment. It may be that your use of the programming environment is causing the problem. Eliminate that possibility by demonstrating your problem using a shell invocation of FFmpeg from one of the three main OSs. 5. Include the full command line, and the full, uncut command line output with your message. 6. Bottom-post: leave the message you are replying to at the top of the message, trim it as much as you can, and put your reply underneath or interleaved. This makes it easier to follow long threads of discussion. 7. Keep the discussion on-list: include the ffmpeg-user list address on all replies. Your message may help someone in the future who has the same problem. So, please rewrite your query with the above improvements, and send it to the list as a new topic. If you have questions about my advice here, on using this ffmpeg-user list, then replying to this message is a good way to ask them.
