Here's something I posted a while back. It's not directly relevant, but it
might provide food for thought.
Using a scanner and a single frame of film I dare say it is possible to scan
it differently, twice and combine the results.
Though I have to say, with Vuescan's ability to capture the

I have seen this many times with Vuescan + SS4000, and have posted about it
previously. Symptoms are that the prescan looks fine, the final scan has

Perhaps because (IMO) Vuescan and Silverfast are different tools, aimed at
different kinds of user practicing quite different workflows.

i've just seen this too - done 36 raw scans and then inverted them in
photoshop, about 4 of them have this odd colour cast

Vuescan. I was supprised to find that my LS30 was reconised by VS even
though Nikon Scan is not yet installed. The device manager has a ? against
the LS30.
Where do you live? I helped someone set up a pair of DBLs some time ago
and in our dry climate (Calgary) the silicone seal dried up over time.

Hi Ken,
Sorry, I don't know what you mean by upper and lower histogram. I only get
one histogram in my version of PS, but perhaps I don't know how to drive it

Yeah, the sealant is still in use. The SBL is supposedly being replaced
this year, which will leave the DBL as the only speaker using the sealant.

Hi People,
I've been lurking for a couple of months, but I've just ordered a Sprint
Scan 4000 from ecost.com and UPS tells me it's scheduled to be delivered on
Jan 11. I'm confused about the function of scanning software such as Ed
Hamrick's VueScan.
When I expose and develop BW film, for
Yes, that's perfect. Thanks. Stan

I downloaded the demo of Vuescan as an alternative to the woefully
inadequate Epson driver, but I've hit a snag that hopefully somebody else
has seen.
If I preview and scan a reflective doc, it works perfectly; however, if I
preview something with the 4x5 transparency adapter, I can watch the
