The usual problems hashed/rehashed on this list. Poor depth of field for focusing, banding, buggy software. Also loud and takes up too much desk space. To use VueScan (my fave) you must use the fine scan mode - which takes 3x as long per scan. The banding is due to the 3-line CCD,

From reports I have received, the problem with the banding is a design flaw, and one in firmware. Most CCD based scanners use a tri-line CCD sensor which has each line represent one of the standard color separations. In other words, one is filtered red, one green and one blue. Since each

The Minolta Scan Multi Pro suffers none of these problems except possibly some clipping with negatives, comes with glass holders, dICE, etc and is cheaper than Nikon or Polaroid scanners. --- Arthur Entlich [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From reports I have received, the problem with the banding is a

I've owned the Nikon, Polaroid and Minolta (kept it) MF scanners. Out of the 3 it's pretty difficult to say there is a worst one in terms of ultimate scan quality. Based on features maybe but not scan quality. In terms of working correctly, the Nikon is definitely the worst. Paul Wilson You

I have used the SS120 and the 8000 extensively and my experience does not reflect yours. I had fewer issues with The SS120 than the 8000. Using Silverfast and IT8 calibration, the SS120 provided much more accurate color rendition, sharp scans and no banding. I did not like the film holders as
