If you enter the notes in another layer, like 4, and use rhythmic
notation applied to layer 4 (you would have to duplicate, then edit
an existing style), then you can mute the playback of layer 4 only on
that staff in the Instrument List window. Click the triangle beside
the instrument

The only solution I've found that really works is to short-circuit the
independent time sig with tuplets. Suppose you have 2/4 and 6/8 and
the 6/8 is the independent sig. Set it to really be 2/4 but show as
6/8. Then place an invisible tuplet at the beginning of each bar 6
8ths in the time of 4.
i have a doc that contains several page formats with various kinds of
manuscript templates on individual pages. am currently updating the
document but want to reorder some of it to keep all letter, A4,
legal, tabloid and A3 together and insert new templates at
