Using the Vertical Collision Remover plug-in has frozen Finale 2010 a few
times in the last half hour. After I press 'OK,' it greys out all the
windows and I have to force quit Finale (I'm on a Mac...)
Luckily I save frequently, so i'm not losing any work, but it does bog down
my efficiency.
In a score for flute, clarinet, guitar, piano and double bass, I set midi
instrument flute (GM 74) to play the flute staff and midi instrument clarinet
(GM 72)to play the clarinet. However I hear only trumpets on both staffs.
Guitar sounds right. It is ironic that playback is set to SmartMusic
never, but i rarely use playback. the times i did look into
playback, it was clear that to get the kinds of results they are used
for should be done by exporting to a sequencer.

I use it occasionally, usually for a ritard. Then I usually get frustrated
because I can't control the rate of the slowing down. It seems the way to
adjust it is very clumsy, or is there some better way to control it other
than messing with the diagonal lines in the shape designer or the numbers
Ditto. I've tried rits and accels once or twice, each new version. I
always end up putting in my own with hidden MM marks or whatever. The
shapes are not intuitive.

I have used executable shapes, especially when Human Playback fails
to give the result I want. Now that relatively useful playback can be
generated, I routinely make sound files so that I can send them along
with scores to prospective performers ensembles, and conductors. They
find them
