you want to affect. Double click to select all staves. A dialogue box will
appear with choices, including "Hide Empty Staves."

I'm feeling brain dead. I can't find some of the commands and menu items
I've been used to.
It's very disorienting! These are things I have used for years, and cannot
locate in the version of Finale Mac 2014
Where is the "hide empty staves"?
Where is the command to keep the staff spacing you

Client wants a stem to pass through a rest (8th, 16th, 32nd), visually
breaking the stem as it does so.
I've tried creating a rest character with an opaque background, but it also
obscures the staff lines.
