I think the lyric tool might be the best way. You can adjust baselines easily

expressions and then program the metatools for the appropriate number. I do
this all the time for fingering in students’ pieces. If horizontal alignment
is important, I would use expressions over articulations.

1-8
How do I put numbers under notes
With say corresponding numbers on the keyboard
Eg a meta tool short cut

i have a 2010 score that needed one tiny correction and of course i have spent
the entire morning trying to get the kinks out of the file. was originally
done on 10.6.8, i've had to redo FANs for older version of my fonts and other
tiny adjustments on 10.4 and it is largely fine now.
