I’m away from Finale at the moment, but there’s a check box in the score
manager that’s checked by default to do this. I think you can simply un- check
it and get the result you want.

Hi JD,
I’m on the road until Tuesday, but I’ll be home then. If the cartridge fits my

Hi Lawrence,
Keep a couple of copies of your uncorrupted new preference file to use if the
one you’re using becomes corrupted. That avoids the rebuilding process.

I think you’d want the articulation font as well.
There are jazz articulations that look appropriate with Maestro. Using Jazz
font articulations with Maestro looks awful and that discrepancy was why Bill
made the articulations (for Greg Hamilton and me).

Larry,
User/Library/Preferences - scroll down to your Finale Preferences, move it to
the trash and restart Finale. When you have rebuilt your preferences (takes a
little fussing), save time the next time by navigating back to where the
preferences are kept and make a copy of the preference

Well, I would say avoid the original version of 2008; it's too buggy
to work with. The 2008a update fixed a lot.

I agree, but I don't know why this freeze on quit bug has hit
Hi Darcy,
Me too, and now, after having installed it, I have an empty main tool pallet
and other problems with my computer. Email is not working, my monitor can't
find its resolution so it's not working this AM (sending this from Margot's
computer), but I did get a clean quit and start last

I am on the road in Georgia, just heard of this this morning and thought of you
immediately. I just wanted you to know of my concern.

Hi Dennis,
I don't see a way to have actual rests in meausers in the score that will
convert into mm rests in parts, as long as the parts are linked. I may be
missing some idea, but that's how it looks to me and, if I were facing that
problem, I'd be thinking about extracting separate parts.
Dean,
No Robert did not teach at Berkeley. He was the conductor of the Glee Club and
Treble Clef Society choirs many years ago, both non-faculty, student
association positions, and it was the fact that he was never hired by the music
department that eventually lead to his taking the job as
This is a topic that deserves careful, case by case, consideration. I have
found what I believe to be good reasons to adhere to correct harmonic
spelling, and to abandon it sometimes in favor of easier melodic reading. I
have not found that incorrect spelling leads to intonation difficulties,
Hi All,
I'm helping my daughter to set up 2007 on her mac (here in Baltimore), and all
is well except that Finale doesn't recognize the MIDI input device (M-audio

set-up does not get the in/out arrows on the icon to
Thanks Eric and Mark,
The device in question is probably an old Oxygen 8, so it may not be v2. In
any case, I did download the new driver (last night - before asking for help),
but I did not try the uninstall - install procedure. I will try that now and
report back.
Thanks,
Chuck
Hi all,
Tried the uninstall/install new driver for the Oxygen 8 - nothing changed. I
still cannot get Finale or the Audio MIDI setup to respond to the input device.
Ideas anyone?
TIA,
Chuck

Hi Dean,
Not enough information here. We don't know if you were using the tupet system
correctly or not. In Speedy Entry mode, press opt - 3 before entering the
first triplet, and the entries will continue in the same value as the first one

I have been away and am behind in responses to the list, but I want to add my
