Many of you suggested to use "Fixed Size" fonts.
But when I use fixed size in lyrics, I always have the problem that the
lyrics are not taken into account for music spacing which makes them
rather unusable (no matter what I select in the Document Options->Music
Spacing->Avoid Collision
You can just increase the size of the reduced lyrics and none other. This is
done in the Lyric Window.
If you are using Times New Roman 12, and get a 75% reduction with a grace note
or cue, you want to embiggen it by 33% or a third. That would be 16 points,
just for that syllable, and it
That's definitely an option, Christoph. Although it might be a bit
confusing if you're dealing with different font sizes in the Lyrics
Window. I was looking for a global option, but that probably doesn't exist.

I am working on a hymn excerpt, and some of the verses have extra syllables
which are denoted by reduced notes. The problem I am having is that the
size of the lyrics under them reduces as well. Is there a way to have this
not happen?

Can't you
I was looking for the Text Font changing options in the Lyrics Menu, but
they are in the Text Menu. Not exactly intuitive, but it's the same
everywhere else in Finale. I just don't use the Lyrics Tool that much.

I also have this problem with lyrics cue notes where the lyrics
sometimes appears too small to read.
The best solution I found was using two layers for this:
1.) one layer with the reduced cue notes (for example Layer 3)
2.) second layer with "Blank notation" staff style applied with the cue
Never mind, I found it.

Hello Robert,
You could try this: When there is another syllable for a cue-sized note, back
up to the main note, enter its syllable, then enter a "hard space"
(Option-Space on Mac), then enter the next syllable. You might have to do some
manual adjusting, but I think it might work.

If you reduce the noteheads versus reduce the note, the fonts won't change size.
