Using a trick it is possible to attach slurs to rests: Change rest into
note, attach slur, change note back into rest. Slur stays there.
Question: is there a way to do this without first having to change the
rest into a note?

If more than one note is involved before the rest you can slur to the last
note, click on the slur, and re-shape it to reach to the rest.

Aaron's method saves the bother of having to switch tools.

Yes, I know that is also possible, but such slurs behave differently
when the layout is changed.

But then when you change the layout you might be in for trouble...

But that goes without saying with any engraver slurs, doesn't it? ;-)
As they say, you can do anything notationally with Finale.

Hi all:
I have found a microfiche manuscript collection that a library isn't
too fussy about me printing from or even scanning. But I do have a
concern from previous experiences with scanning microfilm-- the
trouble was the scanner only went to 800 DPI, and didn't allow gray
scale scans. This

The logical thing would be to purchase the microfiche set, but at

printing copies of *anything* and I don't know
It's a way of emphasizing carrying a phrase into the ensuing silence, as
at the end of my bass trombone sonata.

This is a new one.
FinWin 2006c. It has never showed up before.
When I start Finale and print more than one copy of a file, lets say two
copies, the first time Finale prints two copies. The next time I print
two copies, it prints four copies, and every time after that it doubles

Perfectly legit. You seem to want the player to take the note to its
final millisecond, maybe also to wiggle his horn a bit after ceasing
blowing, just to move the infinitesimal last waves of sound to go
hurrying after their predecessors before the first audience member
coughs.

I've seen this notated with a tie from a note to the following rest,
never as a slur which continues onto the rest following the final
So I'm a little behind, but I'm using 2006d at the moment, and I
can't make any of my files change tempo on playback. They all seem
to be stuck on q=120 no matter what I do. If I change it in the
playback window it still keeps the same tempo, and sometimes it is
grayed-out and won't even let

Christopher,
Wow... Thank you so much.
Actually, I had put a dynamic mark at the beginning, which had, yes,
a number for velocity, but also a tempo number. Who knew? I have
never run into this before, but thanks to you, I know what to check
for now. It wasn't even a dynamic marking I'd
I figured it out. The midi setup/midi out/match on/off needs to be checked.
That solved the problem immediately. Well, I guess one must try everything
to figure out this program sometimes.
Thanks for the help.
