2012-06-21 Thread Michael Mathew
Thank you, MakeMusic, today's tip of the day is a linked parts editing speed-up
nonpareil for me!

Re: [Finale] MakeMusic tip of the day

2012-06-21 Thread SN jef chippewa

the idea may have been posted here at some point, but for me it has
long been a logical use of linked parts (faultily implemented in the
last 6 versions, yay make music!) and the new window feature
available not only on finale but also on so many other programmes i
work with. i.e. seriously nothing to praise finale for.

although i have to admit, i use this not as often as i should; there
seems to be some bug in having one of the windows on a separate
screen that i have not been able to sort out well enough to report.
i haven't worked extensively with linked parts on F2012 but am about
to, so will see if this is finally resolved...

Re: [Finale] Group Barline override Staff Barline

2012-06-21 Thread SN jef chippewa

not really an answer to your question, but this should have been your
approach in F2007. if it is not too much work i would suggest going
through the doc and applying staff styles as needed (quite quick wth
a metatool), they remain in place despite layout changes, contrary to
the use of staff groups in some contexts.

Creating a staff style to hide the barline sound like the most obvious method?

2012-06-21 Thread Raymond Horton
That IS a good tip! After having it pointed out, it seems obvious, but I
had certainly thought of it myself. It will be particularly helpful with
placement of elements (dynamics, etc.) so that one can get good positioning
that will work in both part and score.

Thanks!

[Finale] independent time signatures

2012-06-21 Thread Aaron Rabushka
Has anyone here worked with the independent time signature feature (e.g., 5/2
in some parts against 15/4 in others)? My current project is calling for a lot
of it. Is there any way to mass-copy the signatures from the non-independent
parts to the independent parts without entering each one individually? I am
using Finale 2003 on a PC.
