control-click (mac) the staff handle and select delete staves.

in scroll view, the barlines on the 2 non-existent staves at the
bottom of your score i do no believe you will get rid of. but when
Thanks. I did use the hide empty staves command, and I was was able to get rid
of the staff by doing the following: with empty staves shown, including the
ghost stave, I choose hide empty staves followed by show empty staves. It
vanished. However it came back later. So I repeated the process a
A simple score that would take me a few hours to finish has already taken me a
day and a half. All sorts of unexpected behaviors occur. I've been deleting
linked parts and creating them again over and over due to missing measures in
parts, the reason of which I haven't the faintest idea.
Why
One detail: the measure appears in scroll view, but not in page view. Is there
a way to force it to show?

you should look a little closer into the staff tool (RTFM): hide and
delete are two fundamentally different functions!!!
glad it got solved, in any case

Try breaking multimeasure rests, then recreate them. I've noticed odd things
with this sometimes, but it's always been an easy fix. Hope this works for
you!

if you have the auto-update function in the MM rests options
UNchecked and add music to a measure previously contained in a MM

if that isn't it then you have bigger problems :-)
it is good practice to only generate PTs once the SC is
No need to break. Just select all and create. Create for all parts and score
while you're at it. This happens to me so often I don't even think about it any
more.

Another shortcut - thanks! And I think you can go straight to the Edit menu
to do parts score without selecting all. You would only need select all
to break multi-measure rests.
I do miss having a hardcopy of the manual.
How many little things do we do that others would love to know? I just
the disadvantage of doing all parts at once is that any edits you
have done to the MM rests (width, ends of symbol to avoid clef

I don't get it. I'm sure everybody knows the difference, no need to RTFM. I
said the ghost staff disappeared after hiding empty staves FOLLOWED by SHOWING
empty staves. Then, when ALL were SHOWING again, the extra staff was GONE.
That's how I got rid of it.
