Hello all. I'm having a problem with writing chord symbols in piano

hearing a D even though I've applied staff styles to rhythmic

percussive notation. I'm trying to avoid going to studio view and
 muting the
piano part. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows 7 and Finale 2012.

Thanks in advance.

I would create an expression to mute the channel and then it can be
unmuted with another expression later if desired. In the expression
playback setting, choose Controller in the Type box, select controller 7
- Volume and set the value to zero. (To unmute it set the value to 127).
Muting will work OK if the text is hidden.

This works with MIDI playback, I don't know if it will work with VST
instruments. You don't say which you are using.

And you can turn down the volume of the offending notes to zero, with the MIDI
tool.

You can also mute things in the instrument list.

Yes, but that's for the entire playback. It would be very helpful to be
able to define a style (like rhythmic notation) to be muted.

[Finale] finale-generated mp3s not readable on mac?

2014-09-20 Thread SN jef chippewa

is there anyone who knows about this and has a solution? for a
journal i work on we received mp3s clips of piano excerpts but my
colleague can't open in quicktime or in the mp3 editing software he
uses. he assumes they were generated on PC (has apparently come
across this problem before, but maybe not from finale) and i want to
find out about this before i contact the author.

As I recall, files transferred directly to/from a Mac in various formats don't
always read. From the PC viewpoint, it's because the raw Mac files seem to
have incompatible header information ahead of the usual filetype info. I've
looked at the files in a hex editor and seen these additional headers. I may
be blowing smoke here, but in my experience if the folks zip up their files
first or post them online or a to a download service, they seem to be fine.
Raw files via email (especially AOL in the olden days) seem to be the issue.

I sometimes came across the same problem; some apparently unreadable files I
managed to open by using All2mp3, a lovely utility someone I don't recall at
the moment suggested on this list.
