Re: [Finale] Getting Rid of Piano / Pno. Group names on Piano Staves
Make sure you select the ENTIRE staff, by clicking to the left of the clef, then shift-click to the left of the other clef so both staves are selected in their entirety. Select the staves with Staff Tool. In the Staff Menu, select Groups and Brackets>Edit? and uncheck Show Group Name. Christopher Thanks so much for your response, and sorry I didn't mention but yes, I tried that and it didn't change anything. I'll try it again just to make sure. Re: [Finale] help with DS al coda
thanks haroldo and christopher! yeah the passage is a bit long for 1st (followed by 2md) ending. thanks for the clarificaiton, true it is redundant with endings AND repeats. actually i wonder if 1st/2nd aren't best in this case? because the last quarter of the 1st ending is identical to the upbeat at the start of the piece, and both are slurred into the start of the repeated passage. i.e. i suppose an incomplete slur at a barline with coda symbol is not normal, whereas an incomplete slur at an end repeat seems "normal"? thanks, jef >The way you wrote it may very well be officially >correct, but I never see it written that way. > >With dotted double bars as repeats, it would be a first and second ending. > >Or if the first ending would be too long (as >seems the case here) it would be a DS al Coda, >not a repeat. > >Never should one have a repeat AND a DS that >mean the same thing, as they would indicate >different repeats (I hope you get what I mean). > >Christopher > > >> On Oct 1, 2016, at 4:07 PM, SN jef chippewa >> wrote: >> >> something i almost never come across in my >>work, want to make sure i get this >> right. >> >> in 3/4 >> quarter upbeat ||: (music for 11 bars) | øAl >>Coda (music for 10 bars) :|| øCoda >> (music for 4 bars) |END >> >> is that the right structure and symbols ø = >>coda symbol)? since the thing is in >> a repeat section, i don't need the DS sign at >>the "head" of the repeat and don't > > need to indicate "D.S. al Coda" at the end of >the last repeat measure, correct? -- neueweise -- fonts for new music (and traditional) notation http://newmusicnotation.com/fonts.html shirling & neueweise | http://newmusicnotation.com new music notation + arts management + translation [FB] http://facebook.com/neueweise | [TW] http://twitter.com/neueweise ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu

You're on Finale 2008. Finale would really choke if you had lots of fonts installed. That's still the case (I'm on 2014.5), and almost as bad (hard to tell as I have a faster computer). It's like Finale goes through the whole font list every time you type a letter.
