Last time I set up a staff style for congas was pre-score manager (2011, I
believe) and I can't seem to do this in 2014.5 (mac El Capitan). I've found
the style option in score manager but the least it can apply to is an
entire layer. I also tried inserting a section of the staff style
I always eventually use an expression to set a tempo, but usually hitting
"stop" in the playback window makes that box available again when it's
grayed out.

The plus signs indicate stopped horn. Maybe a double reed, or tenor or
bari sax in that register would work. On horn the effect is buzzy and

Also, I still find the assignable control (mac) key combinations useful
getting to and from tools. Doug, your comment led me to believe you may not
be aware of those either.

instrument list, but I don't think any independent control can be gained
through the use of Layers.

Not sure if you're aware of a couple of keyboard shortcuts that help me with
this: hitting the escape key twice takes you to the selection tool;
double-clicking an item (in the selection tool) takes you to that item's
tool.
