Thanks in advance.

Select Partial Measures is on all the time in 2008.

If you click on a measure, the entire measure is selected. If you drag AROUND
a part of a measure, only the part of the measure is selected, unless you hold
down the shift key, in which case the whole measure is selected.

Read the page they sent you to. Lots of good info there to help you.

Thank you Christopher, Aaron and Dick for the replies. That explains the
absence of the menu item. The Finale Help is misleading though, in this
particular instance, because when I clicked on Select Partial Measures in the
Index, this is what I got:

When you choose this command, the Select Region dialog box appears... etc.

But there is no Select Partial Measures command, so what it is really doing
is to explain the Select Region command. Or am I missing something? Should I
report this to Coda?

Please do report it, as it is obviously a mistake.

I certainly hope they get all their problems sorted soon.

On Mac it's just a click=drag thing using the selection tool.

Finale 2008 works as though select partial measures is always on,
although it's much more accurate and flexible than the old select
partial measures.

To get a handle on how this all works, go to the Encyclopedia section
of the help file and drill down to Selecting music under S. You'll
see the various keyboard and mouse shortcuts for working with partial
and full measure selection.
