Or just turn on Human Playback and create an expression that says
mute.

There are two issues here:
1) Assuming you are using the SoftSynth trumpet, or the lite
Garritan trumpet included with Finale, the only muted sound available
is a harmon sound. If you want the sound of a cup mute, or a bucket
