Re: [Finale] Finale Tab Bar

2018-03-07 Thread Robert Patterson
Claudio,

I recently updated to macOS 10.13 from 10.11. I only noticed tabs since
that upgrade. It is possible the tabs feature is not available in 10.11.

Larry,

I have never been a big user of tabs in, for example, web browsers. But in
Finale I expect I will use them in place of multiple windows. I work in
full-screen mode in Finale almost exclusively. Tabs allow a single click
between different files or different views of the same file. The only way
to move to a different window in Finale (that I am aware of) is to select
it from the menu. On a multi-monitor setup, menu selection is a much slower
process.

Listers,

I have never used tabs with Finale and don’t really know how they would improve
my workflow…..but I want to learn. Please send me and others some examples of
how you use tabs.

Thanks,

Re: [Finale] Finale Tab Bar

2018-03-07 Thread Claudio Pompili
Robert, I’m on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and FinMac 25.5 and didn’t know about
the tab feature. I opened two files and in the Window menu tried both Tile
Windows and Cascade Windows but no tabs. I don’t have a Merge Windows menu item.

Any ideas?

Anne,

I have tried every permutation of drag and drop of one window on another
that I can think if (on Mac), with no effect. The Window->Merge Windows
technique works for me.

This sounds like you're asking if you can change the order of tabs.
If so, the answer is yes, at least on a Mac. Most likely on a PC, too.
It works just like tabs on browsers.

Robert - with several Finale files open are you able to drag and drop one on
top of the other until the header becomes active and the top file becomes a tab
alongside the bottom file?

Open a second document in the usual way.
Then select Window => Merge Windows

I figured this out by checking the online manual.
I had no idea you could do that. Sometimes useful.
Thanks for bringing it up.

[Finale] Finale Tab Bar

2018-03-05 Thread Robert Patterson
I just discovered that Finale now has tabs. I can't believe I never noticed
them before. The issue is I can't figure out how to opening anything useful
in a new tab. If I show the tab overview and click on the new tab icon, it
opens a new untitled doc in the new tab. If there's a way to replace it, I
can't tell.

I'd like to be able to open different part views and different docs in
different tabs. Does anyone know the trick?
