You can reprogram the transposition metatools (6-9) by hitting cmd-shift-#
while in the Selection Tool.

Those are the default metatools. In the Selection Tool,
6 down a step
7 up a step
8 down an octave
9 up an octave

Also useful:
5 beat spacing
4 music spacing
3 elapsed time
2 explode
1 implode

[Finale] Metatools

2019-02-12 Thread Lawrence David Eden
Finale 25.5 Mac OS Mojave

Where are the transposition meta tools stored? I used to hit “7” to transpose
a measure down and octave, and “8” to transpose up an octave. Right now,
Finale is transposing up a whole step when I hit “7” and down an octave when I
hit “8.”

Re: [Finale] Metatools Not Working

2014-10-27 Thread j...@thomastudios.com
This happens to me pretty regularly in Finale Mac 2012. I don’t know why, but
restarting the Mac is the ONLY solution. I really believe this bug is related
to the stuck metatool bug I have dealt with for years. And the Finale folks,
whatever they’re called today, don’t seem to want to even think about fixing
it. Typical.

are they actually defined in the document you are working on?

is this an older document opened in a newer version of finale? i
lose my metatool definitions when opening older files in F2012.

Suddenly the metatools I have been using don't work any more: articulations and
expressions are no longer recalled via the metatool setup.
This is going to be a serious issue if I don't resolve the problem.

This is actually true, as the power supply in a computer maintains
power after it's unplugged from the wall socket for a minute or two.
The motherboard of my desktop PC has a pilot light on it that doesn't
go out for at least a minute after the computer is unplugged from the
wall socket. For onboard hardware like sound cards and network cards,
this can potentially be important.

I'm not sure that it would matter in Chuck's case, with a keyboard
issue, but for peripherals that are drawing power directly from the
computer's motherboard, it could be relevant.

Make sure you are using your usual keyboard map, too. Finale will
behave differently if you are using, say, a Canadian keyboard map
rather than a US one.

And David, the stuck key thing is not such a long shot! It happens to
me all the time.

i.e. According to the various palettes they are still programmed,

smart shapes etc. using metatools in the first place. (And how

This is a long shot, but have you checked to make sure you don't
have a stuck key on your keyboard, specifically, one of the
"shift" keys? I usually just pound on all the shift keys to try to
unstick them if I suspect this kind of thing (it's kind of

Hi Mark,

I love the Patterson Plug ins too and wouldn't be without them. But
if you don't have them yet but you do have TGTools, you can use
TGTools>Modify>Transfer>Metatools to bring in just your metatools for
expressions and articulations.

Nope, no metatools come along for the ride with the default library
export and import.

However, you can use Patterson Tools' Settings Scrapbook to transfer
libraries and metatools.
