Re: [Finale] copying articulations
Thanks, Chuckyou got it right the first time...I am working on a brass quintet arrangement that has a lot of articulations that are shared by all staves. Your solution was exactly what I was looking for. Larry Larry - sorry, I didn't read carefully that you were asking about copying from one voice to another rather than one staff or part to another. I should resist the urge to answer posts when reading them on the fly on my iPhone. However, it might be worth a try to try Smart Find and Paint to see if it works across layers using Show Active Layer Only. I haven't had an occasion to try it, but perhaps it works. Re: [Finale] copying articulations
Chuck, Back in earlier versions of Finale, we used the Mass Mover to copy articulations. Is this Smart Find and Copy the replacement? Smart find and copy. Command F selects the source measures and Shift/Command F selects the targets and copies markings. Try it. Re: [Finale] copying articulations
What Smart Find and Copy does is eliminate the need to use a special filtered version of the Mass Mover, one in which you have selected to copy only expressions, articulations and smart shapes. That's what Smart Find and Copy is - a filtered version of the Mass Mover designed to copy only those elements that dictate how the notes are to be played - the expressive elements. Things to know about it: you cannot select a source measure that starts with a rest. You must select only that part of the measure that includes note entries as the source and select the same part of the target measure(s). Also, it only works when the rhythms in the source and target measures are identical. Small variations render it ineffective. Nevertheless, it's a tool I often find useful.
