#flxpc Benefit Concert Press Release
*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:* * Local Concert to Raise Money for Haiti Earthquake Relief * Syracuse, NY, January 21, 2010 -- Syracuse Artists and Musicians for Haiti Relief and Alchemical Nursery are holding a benefit concert for Haiti on this Friday, January 22, 7:00pm to 12:00am at Spark Contemporary Art Space, 1005 E. Fayette St., Syracuse. The event, called Syracuse Artists and Musicians for Haitian Relief Benefit Concert, will feature eight local rock, spoken word and acoustic acts, including Utility Life, Rubin Lee Band and The Black Earth Band. Also featured will be visual works from six local artists, including live action painting from Zachary Missoff. Admission to the event is a suggested donation of $10. All proceeds will go to Partners in Health and Permacultura America Latina. Food and drink will be served. Organizers of the event came together quickly and urgently last week to plan a way to raise money for Haiti. We knew that a benefit concert would be a great way bring our community together to help, said event organizer Adrienne Allen. A lot of people are already looking for ways to help, and this will be a way for people to provide that help while learning more about the issues and having a good time. This fundraiser is unique because of the organizations that will benefit. Partners in Health was selected because of its non-profit status and its well-established presence in Haiti. It has already proven to be one of the most effective medical operations providing relief since the earthquake struck. Permacultura America Latina supports grassroots sustainable development initiatives and low impact economic practices in poor and indigenous communities throughout Latin America. They were selected as the organization able to provide a response to the Haitian crisis that most directly reflects The Alchemical Nursery's values of environmental sustainability and Permaculture philosophy. Organizers are expecting 100 people to attend a successful successful event that will help save lives.
