Town of Dryden Environmental Planner Position: Assistant Environmental Planner Start Date: Immediately
Responsibilities: The Town of Dryden is seeking to create and fill an Assistant Environmental Planner position starting immediately. The primary responsibility of this position is assisting the Environmental Planner with continued implementation of the Town's Stormwater Management Plan. Activities include but are not limited to assisting in developing methodology for inspection of storm sewers for Illicit Discharges and training of field crews; developing forms and templates to support the local Stormwater Law as well as brochures and informational material; assisting in the development of riparian buffer protection programs; assisting in other open space protection planning; and assisting in implementing farmland protection grant projects. Education and Experience Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required. Experience with Geographic Information Systems, Global Position Systems, and graphics software is required. Knowledge of environmental or open space planning is preferred. Must be self-motivated and able to work well with others as a team in a busy municipal office. The ability to perform fieldwork, sometimes strenuous, is a requirement of this position. Administrative Description: This is an hourly, contractual, non-permanent position with no benefits, and no civil service requirements. This position will report directly to the Environmental Planner. Equipment and office space will be provided by the Town at the Town Hall and the schedule is flexible as long as workload demands are met.
