Robert suggested to me earlier that I run "fink reinstall fink" when I was unable to upgrade. I had previously changed the Distribution line in my fink.conf file to 10.2-gcc3.3 trying to get fink selfupdate to download things from that tree, although I don't know if that's a needed step or not
