I have noticed that the emacsen-common-1.4.15-2 installation script fails if /usr/local does not exist (which is the case if you move it away to avoid linking againt libraries in it). The problem is in the PostInstScript: if [ ! -e %p/var/lib/emacsen-common/installed-flavors ] then chmod 2775
