Just to add to the discussion, when building wxgtk2.8-2.8.0-2, I get a
lot of error messages for missing cairo files, such as:
../src/generic/graphicc.cpp:101:19: error: cairo.h: No such file or
directory
The config.log file reads:

al. are in /sw/include/wx-2.8/wx/
