Folks:

I've started a project to encapsulate CD-ROM reading and control
routines in a cross-platform library. I have a branch of vcdimager and
my Video CD plugin for the media player xine that uses this, but my
belief is that a number of other projects might use it too (e.g the
grip a Linux CD ripper).

I am not a Mac OS X user but I think it would be great to have this
working on OS X.

This library currently has code for Linux (Linux ioctl and SCSI
emulation), Solaris (ATAPI and SCSCI), BSDI and some skeletal FreeBSD.
Each of these is in a separate file and I imagine one or several of
these could be used as a guide for OS X.

There are also disk-image reading routines such as to read
CDRWin/cdrdao's BIN/CUE and a the Nero disk image format. (But because
the Nero NRG is a proprietary format, this is probably the flakiest of
the routines). My belief is that as with the rest of the code, these
probably will work unmodified. The code tries comply with C99
standards.

The Savannah project for this is:

http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/libcdio/

and there anonymous CVS access which you will find from that.

(Although I haven't released any tarballs for this project yet, I but
may do so soon. Of course if Mac OS/X code were added, that would
definitely be a reason to make a file release).

If you can help, contact me.
