I notice that XftConfig lies in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/ and similarly there is an Xft dir in /usr/X11R6/include/X11/ , containing both Xft.h and XftFreetype.h . In my log file I have : ... checking for Xft/XRender X11/Xft/Xft.h... checking X11/Xft/Xft.h usability... yes checking X11/Xft/Xft.h
