This looks like what happens when one buils older versions xfree86-rootless with the April 2002 Development Tools (10.1). If this is what you did, then this is a known problem. Solutions are: 1) use the December 2001 Development Tools and rebuild xfree86-rootless (this is a bit painful) 2) u

hi, i have the very same problem. since martin costabel provided me with a working .deb file, the problem seems to arise during compile time. i compared his (working) compile.log with mine and only found very few differences. the difference i found very strage is that he has the line checking
