Hello,
I'm sorry if this answer is out there - I have read all of the required docs
(INSTALL, USAGE, README, FAQ) and searched the archives (with overwhelming
results).
I feel like the most recent news item on the home page, and the bootstrap
script are contradicting each other.

I don't have this .deb.
I went to the mirror & donwloaded fink-0.17.1.tar.gz, but I don't know
how to make a .deb out of it. It looks like it's meant to install fink
from scratch. I tried running it's "inject.pl" and it claimed it had

The "fix recipe" below does not work for me either. Somebody wrote to

it work; can somebody explain what he was talking about?
For me, the first step of the recipe itself fails for the same reason

Hello,
Is there an easy way to determine *which* packages have been updated to
work with 10.3 yet?
Also, even though a given package might not be buildable under 10.3

Hello,
I recently had a problem where fink couldn't install a package b/c the
package was failing build. I was able to fix the problem (and email the
maintainer w/ the fix ;-). However, the procedure I used to intervene
into fink's ways felt like a bigger hack than necessary. I'm wondering

Hello,
I'm having trouble installing net-ssleay-pm. It is failing for the
annoying reason that one of the tests involves trying to connect to

Hello,
I have a package that won't build (on 10.2). When I remove it, fink

How do I figure out what packages require a given package?
Thanks,

Hey Everyone,
Ok, I want to go for it. I spoke to Jocelyn at Ximian, and asked her flat
out - how many product sales would have to be in it for you guys to decide
to develop the connector for OS X. She said 500.
So, I know there are risks, but I would like to it upon myself to shop this

Hey Everyone,
How far away are we from being able to sync with a fink package instead of

Are people working on other ports? How far along is this one?
I did search the archives for "palm" and "pilot,
Hello,
The latest gnome finally has sounds working for me - but sounds still do not
work in gabber until after I turn off sounds in gnome-cc, and then turn it

Any idea why this might be the case, and if there is a workaround?

Has anyone talked to ximian about getting the evolution connector ported to
OS X/fink? I know they don't open-source it, but I'm hoping they would like
to have it ported, and would welcome the help from those of you that have
lots of experience w/ other ports.

It appears that bonobo-conf is not in the dependancy list for evolution?
I tried to build evolution, and it's config died b/c I didn't have

Hello,
I'm trying to use dselect to replace my ghostscript6 with ghostscript (which
is v7.x). It looks like I have the dependencies right, but (I)nstall won't
do *anything*.
Here's what I did:
* Already had ghostscript6 installed, as well as lots of packages that
depend on ghostscript

Has anyone else had trouble getting gnome sounds to work?
My esd seems to be fine - I let Gnome start it up, and after I do, xmms
works fine. But even though gnome sounds are enabled, when I test them in
the control center, they don't make a sound.

Hey Everyone,
Has anyone got OSX printing from actual applications through ghostscript to
actual printers?
I have a non-postcript printer which OSX doesn't support.
I've been reading ghostscript documentation until my eyes bleed, but I can't
seem to get the big picture. I found the section on "

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if anything has been (or is being) ported to fink that

We seem to be getting closer... Esd made a very interesting & colorful bleep

Hello,
I'm not sure if I should submit this as a "fink bug" or an "ethereal bug."
