I'd like to know which is the policy that Fink adopts with Perl modules
and what really happens when Fink installs pm packages over existing
modules.
Example: some weeks ago, I wanted to try to install the W3C validator
locally. There are some PM dependencies for that and not all are
satisfied

The problem is that you have some old lib*.la file that has this
/sw/lib/libfreetype.la hardcoded in its dependencies. You would need to
rebuild the corresponding package.
In order to find out which one it is, you can do
grep /sw/lib/libfreetype.la /sw/lib/lib*.la
If this gives some hits, use

Often libraries installed by Fink don't get recgnized by the configure
scripts.
How can this be worked around (for the moment) and fixed (for the

I'm upgrading gimp-print for OS X. The GimpPrint Readme strongly suggest to
install ESP-GhostScript. I don't know which are the real differences
between this and a fink installed GS installation.

You can do it by starting X11 from the command line (terminal). If
an endless saga...
