I've searched the source of GMP and I haven't found anything with that
name. But the question is why would Fink's Python hit the snag and the
others don't.

I would prefer to keep using only fink for cleanliness and I feel a
little bit schizophrenic having 3 different versions of Python
installed on my computer ... :-)

Sorry, I didn't notice that my answer went privately to him. I have
GMP 4.2.1 which I think is the latest stable offered by the project
and also the latest in fink. And yest, this is on Intel.
