When trying to upgrade fink for Jaguar following the instructions
in the Fink project home page, I executed the command

   fink update xfree86-base xfree86-rootless

forgetting that I had installed XFree86 using the distribution from the  
XonX project (:-()
As  a result, after successfully compiling XFree86 installation failed  
with the following
message:

xfree86-base:
  system-xfree86 conflicts with x11
   xfree86-base provides x11 and is to be installed.
dpkg: error processing  
/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system/xfree86- 
base_4.2.0.1-2_darwin-powerpc.deb (--install):
  conflicting packages - not installing xfree86-base
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of xfree86-rootless:
  xfree86-rootless depends on xfree86-base (= 4.2.0.1-2); however:
   Package xfree86-base is not installed.
dpkg: error processing xfree86-rootless (--install):
  dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
