Yes, you can edit the fink.conf file. You have to check that /sw/fink/dists points to 10.2-gcc3.3, too.
Another possibility is to run 'sudo /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl' which should fix it, too.
Thanks Remi -- that postinstall command was what I was trying to dig up again. I thought I had saved the relevant posts from end of 2003 but couldnt find the right line...
