I cant get kde 3 to run. I have installed kde 3 but recently installed bundle
mac which include kde4 apps.
could this be causing the problem?

Probably not. At one point I had kde3, kde4-mac, and
I use open -a /Applications/Utilities/X11.app to start kde.
could this be the problem.?

I wouldn't think so, though you might try using startx instead, to
make it easier see if there's an error message.
