Diacritic replaced when EF update records

I'm using EF code first and mapped varchar field that contains some diacritics.
Retrieve one record with diacritic, concatenate space (only to enforce
updating) and submit changes.
All diacritics updated or inserted with EF are replaced by a dot.
Inserting an equivalent record (with diacritics) by FbCommand and exactly the
same connectionstring do not cause this problem.
