I've got it working now.
I think the basic problem
was with the Public Key Token, but after I followed all the steps from Kai I
discovered that the value in the GAC did not match the values that were put in
the machine.config during the install.
I'm not sure where th
I changed both of those entries for the Version, but I still have the same
problem.

It's definitiv a Problem of machine.config file, my friend had the same
issue, i cannot say now what exactly was wrong, but something like Public
token, anyway - that was the reason why

FirebirdSql.VisualStudio.DataTools in the GAC with a public key of
6ae6c78ccb0fcdb3.

This couldn't be the assembly name unless you are using v2.0 of the
provider.
