Let's suppose I install Firebird 2.5 Server on a OcKel Sirius A (4GB
LPDDR3-1600 RAM and 64GB of internal storage)


Will there be a difference in performance and reliability if I use a Compaq
Proliant ML370 G1 Server Windows 2003
  4GB RAM
and 6 X 18GB SCSI installed in RAID ?

Hi to all
 

 I'm having an "Permission denied" issue with Firebird 2.5 super-server in a 
Linux Red Hat 7 box.
 

 I can only read databases located on /var/lib/firebird/data. If I locate the 
same database in any different directory, when I try to access it using isql I 
get a "Permision denied".
 

 I have checked the directory ownership to firebird user, the appropiate 
permissions of the directory to 770 and the permissions of the database file to 
660
 

 I checked the setting of DatabaseAccess variable in the firebird.conf file and 
it is in the default value.
 

 I can't understand what is going on, and have no other idea on how to fix this.
 

 Any help will be appreciated.

   Most likely you closed wrong connection, not the one which the table belongs 
to.

yes we use GTT with on commit preserve rows in very long connection.
If we close the connection, the memory of the file will not be released.

[firebird-support] large fb_table files

Hello,
We have a problem with large fb_table_xxx file in the firebird_tmp directory.
The fb_table file will only be deleted, if  no connection is activ, but this is 
very rare.
So the file is still growing up and the server crashes, if the file has more 
than 50GBytes 

Firebird-2.5.5.26952-0 superserver
firebird_tmp=f:\firebird_temp(50GBytes)

What could be the reason, that the file is still growing?
What are we doing wrong?

I would really advice ...IF you have real issues with Win 7 then do it on a
Test Windows 10.

Otherwise stay on Win 7 or Best of all Use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or Ubuntu 16.04
LTS 64bit server and FLAMEROBINthese are great couples.
