Hi Mark,

the version number is 2.5.2.

Unfortunately I cannot upgrade it to a more recent one because the 
OS is Ubuntu 14.04, and I have to wait until a complete migration to 
Ubuntu 16.04 until I can upgrade Firebird to a newer version.

That would suggest the listener crashed. Which version are you using?

That would suggest the listener crashed. Which version are you using?

it could not establish a connection, it restarts Firebird service. This 
script is run periodically by cron service.

Also make sure you are using the Firebird 3 fbclient.dll on your client 
machine, or make sure that the legacy authentication is allowed and wire 
encryption is downgraded from Required to Enabled.

A crash does not necessarily mean that the server process ended, just 
that it stopped accepting connections. In any case, good luck.

RemoteBindAddress = localhost

   ( previously I had this line commented )

Taking into account the error message suddenly thrown, I suspect
that may be a bug when this option is set.

I'd start by upgrading Firebird to at least 2.5.3 security update 1 from 
December 2014 (but preferably 2.5.7 from February 2017), earlier 
versions have a bug where a malformed packet can crash the server, which 
might be the problem here.

environment

Firebird Superserver  2.5.2.26540

Web server: apache2 2.4.7

 Today connections from local PHP scripts could not be established. 
I tried to attach from Flamerobin.

 The error message was the following

Context: Database::Connect
Message: isc_attach_database failed

SQL Message : -923
Connection not established

Engine Code: 335544421
Engine Message :
connection rejected by remote interface

I had to restart Firebird in order to let clients connect.

Any clue will be welcome.

We are trying to use Firebird 3.0 for our Delphi programs that use IBX 
components (Delphi 2009, Delphi 2010 and Delphi XE). Local connection to the 
Firebird 3.0 database is succesfull both from Flamerobin and from IBX. The 
problem is connection to the remote server: both - Flamerobin and IBX - give 
the following error message:

 What should we do? We use Firebird 3.0 client (fbclient.dll and gds32.dll) so 
there is no incompatibility and this should not be an issue. We tried to change 
Firebird.config parameters:
 

 AuthServer = Legacy_Auth, Srp, Win_Sspi
 AuthClient = Legacy_Auth, Srp, Win_Sspi
 UserManager = Legacy_UserManager, Srp

 WireCrypt = disabled
 

 But that did not solve our problem. What else should we check? Telnet 
connection 'telnet remote_server_name 3050' was successful, so there are no 
firewal problems neither.

Setting up a new Windows 7 computer and installed Delphi XE5 and Firebird 1.5.6

I am able to open and compile my Delphi source just fine.

When I try to connect to the database using the TIBDatabase component I receive 
the connection rejected by remote interface error

FBCLIENT.DLL is in the Windows\SysWOW64 folder, so is GDS32.DLL

I thought if I remove the GDS32.DLL then it would find the FBCLIENT.DLL and use 
it, bad idea as Delphi complains that it is missing when you try to open the 
source and then will proptly delete the TIBDatabase component.

Delphi XE5 and Firebird 1.5.3 worked just fine with the TIBQuery, TIBDatabase, 
and TIBTransaction on Windows XP

I'm stuck, any ideas what I need to do to fix this?

Guys,

I have figured out the issue.

I uninstalled the Interbase app that was installed with Delphi (I should have 
deselected that option), cleared any remaining folders, and removed 
FBCLIENT.DLL and GDS32.DLL from the SysWOW64 directory, then reinstalled FB 
this time with the Generate client library as GDS32.DLL for legacy app 
support? selected.  The GDS32.DLL is required to use the Interbase components 
in Delphi.

All is well now and thought I should let others know what I had to do.
