[Flashcoders] HTML in XML

I have a text field in a movie clip that I have rotate 90 degrees. I have some default text in there and I am having trouble updating that text field. Anytime I use actionscript to change the value of the text, the box goes blank. However, I added some trace statements and the text field does

I'm trying to make a global function that I can call when someone clicks a next button that unloads the current movieclip and then loads the next one based on the name passed to that function. Also, on some clicks (at the end of each section) I need to enable the next menu option but I'm unsure of
