[Flashcoders] Shared local file.

2009-09-23 Thread John McCormack

Hi.

I have an application that saves user scores remotely, across the web,
by sending the data to a php script. That script receives the scores and
updates the list in an xml file. The scores are sorted and returned.
That works fine.

When the user runs the SWF locally, on a school network, I would like to
save the scores locally too, so that scores can be compared with other
students working in the same classroom. It will be much more fun to
compete with friends across the room from you.

I had hoped to update a text file, or local shared object, with the
scores and the security limits do seem to allow for this. Trusted
directories may be one part of the answer and using the SWF's source
directory another possibility.

The program can read a named, trusted, directory as a string from
another text file when run and so the network administrator can let the
program know the directory for the SWF to save into.

I believe shared objects are usually inaccessible to other users, i.e.
other client computers logged onto the network because they are stored
in the user's allocated server space.

The best solution would be a shared, trusted and accessible directory on
the server, perhaps even the directory from which the SWFs are served.

Can anyone an advise as to which method will allow this shared access to
a scores file?

Living in hope!

John

RE: [Flashcoders] audio pause/resume problem

2009-09-23 Thread Merrill, Jason
There were some bad bugs with audio in FP9.x which were fixed in FP10.
I don't know if this was one of them, but one of the bugs was that audio
would keep playing in a loaded .swf and wouldn't unload even if the .swf
was unloaded. I don't know if this is related or not, but thought I
would throw it out there. The fact that it works fine for you in FP10
but not FP9 is suspicious.

// btstop.onRelease = function(){

And you're using AS2? Hmmm... I would at least consider doing this in
AS3 if possible.

Subject: [Flashcoders] audio pause/resume problem

hi coders!

I have a system that it's a dialog between 2 people (one the computer the
other is the user) the computer start talking ( it's 1 mp3 file loaded with
all the computer speech) when it's the user turn I have an action to pause
the mp3 (well it stores the current audio position and stops the audio) and
then when he finish recording his speech it start playing from where it was.
(passing the audio position to the audio object)

The problem is that when it resumes the mp3, it doesn't start from where it
stopped, it goes forward. no logic at all

well it's working on FP version (WIN 10,0,2,54) but not in FP WIN 9.0.124.0.

I really would like some light on this as I don't know where to look anymore
and I don't want to believe that it's a FP9 problem.

I isolated and reproduced the error here:
(i putted the text so you can follow the jumps.)
http://www.alumni.org.br/tmp/rodrigo/som.html

any help will be appreciated.
thanks coders!

this is the code:

audioObj = new Sound();
audioObj.loadSound(http://www.alumni.org.br/elearning/cursos/LetsTravel/Audio/audio16.mp3;,
false);

//qdo carregar audio comeca e atulzia o status
audioObj.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {

aaa.text = loaded
if (success) {
 audioObj.start();

//nao carregou audio
} else {
 aaa.text = not loaded
}

}

btstop.onRelease = function(){
_root.flag1=true
_global.soundPosition2 = Math.round(audioObj.position/1000);
audioObj.stop();
_root.aa.text = _global.soundPosition2
}

btplay.onRelease = function(){

[Flashcoders] swf behaving differently in different domain and other issues loading swf

2009-09-23 Thread Isaac Alves
Good morning,

I´ve been experiencing some problems with swf files.

First one:

http://www.swingebalada.com.br/index.php

In this website, the logo and menu animations work nice when the home
page is loaded (index.php)
But in the internal pages (i.e: index.php?cmd=eventos) the animation
doesn´t happen.

The header swf file doesn´t receive any parameter in the internal pages.
What-s going on?

Second problem:

In this website, the menu works perfectly in the internal server of
our network, and in this case, the swf file receives a parameter to
highlight the menu item of the page that is currently opened.
Unfortunatelly I cannot give you access to it, but I can send the fla
and swf file , just in case.

But on this page it just doesn´t work:

http://clientes.agenciahive.com.br/acoriana/index.php

In Firefox, the swf gets loaded but the links doesn´t work, and the
animations sometimes stuck. In IE6, the swf doesn´t even get loaded
and it throws an error.

Thanks a lot !!

[Flashcoders] basic mtasc question

I'm getting really impatient with the FDE compiler. Probably my fault
for piling on so many classes, but I need to keep moving forward.

When using mtasc to inject code into a swf, does all the AS get
replaced, or only the main class? I'd like to leave frame scripts in
place. I only want to recompile main.

[Flashcoders] Detecting what port Flash player chooses

2009-09-23 Thread William Chadwick
When you use a RTMP connection string without specifying a port, the Flash
Player attempts to make a connection to the Flash media Server specified
using port 1935, then if that fails or times out it attempts the connection
on 443 and then on port 80 and then attempts to tunnel RTMP through HTTP
(RTMPT).

My question, can you ask Flash Player which port it used? And if so, how?

I would like to store the result in a SharedObject to prevent users from
having to wait through this process next time.

Thanks in advance for your brilliant answers,

[Flashcoders] RE: swf behaving differently in different domain and other issues loading swf (Isaac Alves)

2009-09-23 Thread Isaac Alves
Hi, both problems solved!

The first one was easy, actually there was a conditional that was
stopping the animation whenever the swf file was loaded inside an
internal page, that is, not the home page. ( I didn´t realize it
before cause the code was a bit messy and was made by someone else).

The second problem was tricky. There swf was embedded via jQuery (see
code below) and there were some javascript functions inside the same
file that were stopping the swf file to be loaded inside IE6. So we
had to check the functions one by one to see which ones were stopping
the swf to load.

hope this will help someone else .

Cheers!
