[Flashcoders] OT: Adobe Air Marketplace
Sorry for the OT post - however i was just wondering what your experiences with the Adobe Air marketplace have been like? I have added an item on there about two weeks ago, and it's still not approved. The Adobe site says it takes about 2-3 working days to approve apps - but have read reports of apps taking about 2 months to get approved. Anyone know what's the deal with the approval process ? RE: [Flashcoders] Video encoding service
We use encoding.com for other things, but I don't believe it can do what we wish here: We need to grab the video from a website visitor's webcam, send the video to a server - preferably ours - to be served on demand later. Make sense? (thought ankoder.com does this, it doesn't.) Am I missing something? I know how to capture a bitmap from a webcam and send it to the server with no special server software. Can one do something similar for a video without FMS, Red5, Wowza or a subscription service that uses one of these? _ _ _ Erik Mattheis Senior Web Developer Minneapolis T 952 346 6610 C 612 377 2272 Weber Shandwick Advocacy starts here. Re: [Flashcoders] Video encoding service
You might want to try mjpg-streamer if your capturing stills of the frames of the webcam and just need to reserve them. You can implement mjpg-streamer to do such I believe. I found it when I was doing a similar search. Its an older technology, but royalty free unlike other codecs. Might be your solution, might not. I am as new to it as you would be, but it looked promising. [Flashcoders] Help with addChild
Dear Group, I wondered if I could bother you a minute with a simple question. I have a document class that extends MovieClip, but my problem arises when I use addChild to add some popups (movieclips) to the stage. They are only visible when I attach my popups to an on-stage button: mystagebtn.addChild(mypopup) but I get nothing when attaching using addChild() or this.addChild or this.parent.addChild What reasons can there be for my clips not being visible? As I said, my document class does extend MovieClip and I have searched for a few days now and reading on the doc class has not given me an answer. I wouldn't even mind a reference to a tutorial that could help me. Thanks. -JC On Wed, Jul 7, 2010 at 6:55 AM, allandt bik-elliott (thefieldcomic.com) alla...@gmail.com wrote: does this line work? DynaBtn.addEventListener() will add the listener to the button, but you won't be able to remove the listener from outside the button. Instead, you should have a DynaBtn class, and add the listener in the constructor. Then you can remove the event listeners when you clean up. This applies, of course, to all the buttons you created. Re: [Flashcoders] Help with addChild
Hi, I think the stage has not yet been initiated, hence the addChild is not working. Try to get hold of the stage first and then so an addChild. if(stage){ }else{ addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, onAddedToStage, false, 0, true); } private function onAddedToStage(e:Event):void { removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, onAddedToStage); addChild(...); } Hope this helps.
