[Flashcoders] Flash Builder 4.6 Spark button skin

2012-05-17 Thread Creighton, Gerry
I created a custom skin for three buttons that have the same background for up,
over and down states.
I'm setting those with png's like so..

s:BitmapImage source=@Embed('assets/PanelBtn_Up.png')

  source.over=@Embed('assets/PanelBtn_Over.png')

  source.down=@Embed('assets/PanelBtn_Down.png')

  left=0 right=0 top=0 bottom=0 /

This works great and allows me to set the label for each but I'm having a
problem setting positioning the icon for each
Button that uses this skin. I want to display a different icon for each of the
buttons using this skin.

Can this be done? I think there might be a conflict with the skin I created and
setting an icon. The icon for each button
Doesn't even show up.

Anyone run into this? I've looked online but nothing related to my situation.

Thanks,

-Gerry

have a controller use a service (so you don't bloat the controller) which
updates a model.

Here's an odd one: what font do you use in the Actionscript editor window? I

If you need it for general distribution, you can package it as an app
using Flash CS5 or AIR 2.6 (gets you a newer faster runtime), then point
site visitors to the app location. All individual swfs will need to be
merged into one giant swf.

If you need to demo something on the iPad, you can use iSwifter:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iswifter/id388857173?mt=8

ATM, those are the only two options (well, you could rewrite the whole
thing for haXe too) - eventually you may be able to use something like
Jangaroo to compile an AS3 based app to HTML5/Canvas (canvas is too slow
on iOS ATM), or if Adobe expands it out, use Wallaby
(http://labs.adobe.com) to export to HTML5 from Flash (or maybe a combo
of the two at some point).

For now, an app out of Flash CS5/AIR SDK, is the best option.

Now our flash content shows in IE9 on Windows 7. Hope that helps someone down

2011-04-01 Thread Creighton, Gerry
So I’m trying to place a textField at the end of a title by getting the bounds
of the last character in the title string BUT
This is all dynamic and there is one title that has “ é” as the last
character. Flash doesn’t like this.
How can I get the following code to work in this instance? I’m pulling what’s
left of my hair out.
I tried escaping and unescaping but no go.

code
var charI:String = String(_albumTitle.charAt(_albumTitle.length-1));
var charInt:int = _albumTitle.indexOf(charI);

var frame:Rectangle = _albumTF.getCharBoundaries(charInt);

//_releaseDateTF is the textField I’m positioning at the end of the title which
also may wrap to a second line
//so I can’t just get the width of the textField to place my _releaseDateTF

_releaseDateTF.x = (frame.x+frame.width)+4;//get last character position
 _releaseDateTF.y = frame.y+1;//get last character position

/code

Thanks,

-Gerry

Re: [Flashcoders] Form inside a Google Flash Banner :: Possible?

2011-02-15 Thread Creighton, Gerry
Try iab.net as well, there is info on every kind of banner on there.

 you'll be better of contacting google but as far as i'm concerned, as long
 as your crossdomain.xml on the site with the script is correct, you

 that said, what you're describing is really sounding like a rich media
 banner

 is this possible? or do they restrict external calls?

 thanks!

[Flashcoders] ComboBox label issue

2011-01-24 Thread Creighton, Gerry
I’m having a problem properly displaying the font name and variant in a
combobox.
I have fonts embedded in my swf and am exporting for AS.
I have a ComboBox that I’m populating from an enumerated font array like so...
code

fontArray = Font.enumerateFonts(false);//using false only enumerates embedded
fonts
fontArray.sortOn(fontName,Array.CASEINSENSITIVE);
_fontDP = new DataProvider(fontArray);

FontCB.dataProvider = _fontDP;

//when I set up the FontCB I set the labelField like so...
FontCB.labelField = fontName;
/code

When the ComboBox is opened the display names for the fonts only show the main
name of the font and not
each variant (shown below). When I publish and select to “Generate Size Report”
I get all of the proper font names variants.
How can I get the proper font names to display properly.

 If you want to display both the fontName and fontStyle, define a labelFunction
 for the combobox.

 function setLabel(item:Object):String {
  var fnt:Font = item as Font;
  return fnt.fontName +  ( + fnt.fontStyle + );
 }

 font_cb.labelFunction = setLabel;
