I have created a small game that runs with a very high framerate when
running in the standalone flashplayer (90+ fps) but is very sluggish in both
IE and Firefox (more like 18 fps). As a matter of fact I still get a good
framerate in the standalone player, while simultainously running the
sluggish game in a browser!

I don’t really understand why the performance is so slow. Can anyone
enlighten me on what bottlenecks I might have stumped onto? I have tried to
scale the game to 50% but it doesn’t affect performance very much.

Thanks for any hints,

Hey,

Probably an easy one.

Are there any debugers out there that allow some kind of debugging of
Flash
apps when actually online and you can't use the trace command or regular
Flash

debugger.

I've some vague recollection of some ActiveX things I read about ages ago,
but

can't find it now,

Apart from that, your email takes a kind of
i-won't-use-names-but-I'll-try-to-offend-you-all anyway tone, and your
assumptions are just plain wrong on multiple levels. As I said simply
the tone of your email makes it clear there is no use discussing it as
well, you seem to have it all sorted out.

Of course! I explain, albeit sardonically, on multiple levels my stance,
and your response, not surprisingly is:

"You're wrong, and obviously you're not smart enough to understand why, so
I'm not going to bother to explain, but you're wrong on lots of things."

A stereotypical cop out. I guess I was wrong. You're not as smart and
clever as I gave you credit for. ;)

Re: [Flashcoders] Changing text based on the time of a played media

2006-01-10 Thread Thimon Sistermans [Us Media]

Hi,

I don know if it works with mp3 but with flv you could use cuePoints.
You add them to your media component before playing the file
For example you could do something like this:

for (var i = 0; i < track.length){
 // create unique cuepoint id
   var cuePointID  = "cuePoint_" + i;
   //add quepoint to mediaComponent
   myMediaComp.addCuePoint(cuePointID , parsInt(track[i].start));
}

//create listener wich will be called when a quePoint is reached
var cueListener:Object   = new Object();
cueListener.cuePoint  =  function(eventObject){
   trace(eventObject.cuePointName);
}

myMediaComp.addEventListener("cuePoint", cueListener);

Succes!
Thimon

Hi list,

I'm trying for a few hours to figure this out, and I was unable so I'm
hoping that someone here can enlight me

I have a media playback component on my stage, it will load diferent
mixes from diferent dj's.
Each dj will have a track list, I have the start and of every track,
I've build a xml like this with the info

1
325
Egoexpress
Knartz IV
Ladomat

326
550
SRI
Yellow Fever AA1
Force Inc

551
780
Basteroid
Rabimmel
Areal

The start and end time are in seconds ( I couldn't figure out the best
way to do this, so I accept suggestions )

I also have 6 text fields on stage curr_title_txt, curr_artist_txt,
curr_reclabel_txt, next_title_txt next_artist_txt and
next_reclabel_txt.

how can I check the media playback component for the playhead position
to change the text on the text fields? (I've played with playheadTime
and I think I'm on the correct track here ), but I can't figure out
how to compare the value from the player with the data I loaded from
the xml

Any help will be appreciated

TIA

Hello,

My customer want a flash screensaver , the flash part is done , its a
flash8 little project that load datas (text and images) from an xml
file.

with some new flash8 fx

Now i need to find a tool that convert the swf to a windows
screensaver ,
the requirement of this tool is "Flash 8 support " and also very
important "possiblity to disable ALL keys to not be able to switch
off the screensaver" !!!
because the only way in my case its a password field into the swf
that can close the screensaver if the password is correct .

i have a licence of ScreenWeaver 3, it can support flash8 with the
flash8.ocx , you can also disable all keys !!
the problem i have , its when it is a flash8 swf , the loadMovie() or
even the Loader class, dont work , there is a bug , it work only the
first time , after it dont load anymore the jpg's
i really dont understand , if i render my fla in flash7 it work
nice ! but i loose all fx of course ...

someone can advise me another swf to screensaver tool ?? eventualy a
free or opensource one ... if is not possible just a commercial one
will be fine !!

maybe someone have a solution for ScreenWeaver 3, about my problem
loading JPG's with loadMovie or Loader ...

Thank you

Betreff: Re: [Flashcoders] reverse play FLV?

You can't play an flv backwards because of the way it is encoded. A video
consists of sequencial compressed images. If you jump to a frame, the
decoder has to collect an I-frame (a complete image) and walk through
B-frames (partial images containing only changed eareas) to accumulate
frames until it has reached your selected frame.
Understandably, that requires some performance.

If you'd like to play in reverse you'll have 2 options: create another flv
from reverse footage and play that one instead, or create an image sequence
of loose images and put them in a mc. Now you can build controls that play
through the mc (or swf) in any direction or speed you wish.

2005/12/21, Dechesne, Elvin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hi there,

I have an issue regarding playing FLV embedded on the timeline in
reverse order. Im using a simple script to check if the playhead has
reached the end of the video and then reverse plays it. However, this
seems to choke the player, my guess is the codec can't cope with this.
Processor performance leaps from 10% to a staggering 70-80%. Is there
a workaround for this, or should I simply abandon the idea to use this

method?

Many thanks for any advice,

Lol.
The problem seemed to be with my use of the FocusManager.

I was creating an instance of it and passing into "drawing"
functions that were creating the TextInput1 fields:

objFocusManager = new FocusManager();

Then use the nextTabIndex to set fields tabIndex:

txtUsername.tabIndex = objApp.objFocusManager.nextTabIndex;
txtPassword.tabIndex = objApp.objFocusManager.nextTabIndex;

When I traced this out, I noticed that it always returned 1?

Anyway, I removed the FocusManger and simply added 1,2,3,etc and
evreything appears to be fine now.

A custom class I suppose. Which class does it extend?

For tabbing to work propertly with other v2 components, you don't have

much choice other than extending UIComponent (or any of the
v2 core classes).

I've said it before, the FocusManager is not one of the best v2

Yes.
I've used FocusManager.nextTabIndex() to set all tabIndexes, but there

the following on screen, (in preferred tab order):

1. A search box at the top
2. Username field
3. Password field
4. A "Login" button
5. A "Register" button

TAB & SHIFT TAB works between the buttons, but only TAB( tabbing
forward), works on the fields.

All text fields are type TextInput1. If I use the standard TextInput,
tabbing is fine.

Trie that. No difference.

hehe I gave a newbe answer.

anyway
... did you set the tab index?
...are there any other objects with the same name on stage wich also can
have a tabIndex ?

The problem also appears in the browser.

I've altered th onSetFocus as follows:

this.onSetFocus = function(oldFocus)
{
trace("onSetFocus called, previous focus was: " + oldFocus);

if ((txtInput.enabled) && (txtInput.editable)) {
 txtInput.onSetFocus();
}

}

Now, when I tab from one TextInput1, (txtUsername) to another,
(txtPassword) I correctly see:

onSetFocus called, previous focus was:
_level0.login_mc.txtUsername.txtInput.label

But when I SHIFT+TAB back I repeatedly see:

onSetFocus called, previous focus was:
_level0.login_mc.txtPassword.txtInput.label

And the focus remains in the txtPassword, when it should move back up to
the txtUsername.

Is there some way to use the oldFocus parameter and pass the focus back
to it if a SHIFT+TAB
Has been pressed?

Created a TextInput1 component which has an internal TextInput. We

For some reason, I can TAB forward through a small form with two of
these TextInput1 boxes, but I'm unable to SHIFT+TAB backwards?

Within the init() funciton we have the following:

private function init()
{
 //trace("I'm a text input");

 // hide the clips bounding box
 boundingBox_mc._visible = false;
 boundingBox_mc._width = 0;
 boundingBox_mc._height = 0;

  if ((txtInput.enabled) && (txtInput.editable)) {

 this.onKillFocus = function(n)

I have a swf that calls a flv on my server. The swf loads into a
movieclip on the main swf. I need the loaded swf with the flv to
load the default swf..(home.swf) into the mailloader clip when the
flv is finished.

How are you loading/playing the FLV?

If you're doing it via NetStream, just use something like the following.

yourNetStreamObject.onStatus(status:Object):Void {
 if (status.code == 'NetStream.Play.Stop') {
   // Place your code for loading the default SWF here.
 }
}

As soon as the FLV stream playback completes, the code will execute.
