Re: [Flashcoders] Re: Re: huge html file (Glen Pike)

2008-08-01 Thread Glen Pike

Hi,

Flash is publishing all of your text from the movie for SEO reasons. I
am not sure how to turn this off in the IDE, but I normally use my own
HTML templates and just publish the SWF file anyway.

If you want to stop this happening, you can edit the template file that
flash uses to publish your HTML file. There is more information about it
here:

http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/UsingFlash/help.html?content=WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7bab.html

The quickest way to do this is to find the HTML template file called
Default.html and change it, but this will affect every movie you
publish using the Flash Only HTML Template. The files are in:

User Folder/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash
CS3/en/Configuration/HTML/ on the mac, or
INSTALL DRIVE:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\en\Configuration\ on
the PC.

You choose the template you want to use in the HTML tab of the Publish
Settings box (to see the tab, you need to have ticked the HTML box in
the Formats tab). If you are using a template other than Flash Only
you will need to find the appropriate file in the Templates directory
and edit it...

Remove the tag $MT under the !--text used in the movie-- comment and
save the file - then publish your movie.

You can create custom templates, but creating new files in the directory
does not show up when I restart Flash, you may have to reboot to see new
ones, but I am not sure.

Thanks for that, Glen. I still can't work out what is going on. I looked up HTML
templates but it does not explain how to fix the problem. I have tried publishing
on another computer, and it worked fine. However, when I publish on my computer I still
get an enormous HTML file full of 120 entries for every bit of text in the movie. I
compared both, and even though the publish setting and HTML template files are exactly
the same on both computers, the HTML file that writes properly contains the lines:

!--text used in the movie--

!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet --

While the other huge HTML file ends up with hundreds of lines of p/p code
between these two line.

Can anybody tell me how to stop this from happening?
