Strange...I am using fonts in a shared library too and it can display accentuated characters without any problems... Are you sure that the font you're using initially contains those characters ? And have you correctly imported the shared font in your library and set your textfields' font to it ? I always export my fonts to "__Fontname" so they always appear at the top of my font list like this :

__HelveticaNeue*
__MyriadPro*
...
