Thanks. I should have mentioned that for the moment I'm at
wordpress.com, so I may not have the ability to install plug-ins. I
was trying the [sourcecode] directive using xml or java as the
lanaguage, but it kept deleting the code contents.

If I recall correctly you have to turn off some kind of "use rich
editor" flag in WP to make it function correctly.
