Check out TourDeFlex, some stunning effects, also look into changing the layout for lists, etc to make stunning effects. If you havn't looked into LCDS for RTMP. Real Time Messaging is very cool, and allows the application to be updated from the server, instead of pulling data from the server it is pushed to you.
